'NEXT KARANGA TOKERAU FESTIVAL POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE'

'Karanga Tokerau' is the name we use to identify the origins of Ngati Kahu.

Karanga Tokerau 2010 was the first iwi festival, held over 5th, 6th and 7th January to celebrate Ngati Kahutanga through sports, music, arts & crafts, food, games and inter-marae activities. Karanga Tokerau is a celebration of existing kaupapa, initiatives and projects within Ngati Kahu as an iwi. By maximising on our collective taonga, we also show our diverseness as Whanau and Hapu.

Karanga Tokerau will always be a safe and friendly, whanau enviroment for people of all ages, ranging from our mokopuna right through to our kuia / kaumatua.

Inter-Marae Competitions:

* Mixed Touch Rugby

* Mixed Beach Volleyball

* Auahi Kore Hikoi Hauora

* Toa Waiata (Kareoke)

* Kapa Haka

Marae / Team Registrations:

To participate in Karanga Tokerau, each person must register through their marae to participate in these competitions. However if for example; a marae team is unable to fulfil their required number of team members, other whanau are encouraged to register their interests (rules and conditions apply).

Marae Team Trophies / Awards:

There are Marae Team Trophies up for grabs!! One trophy for each catergory. The Marae Team with the most points overall, will win the specially carved taonga (rules and conditions apply).

If you are interested in holding a stall at Karanga Tokerau, contact details can be found on the stall registration forms (stall charges may apply).
