"Nā ka mea a Ihu, Ko wai tenei kua pā nei ki ahau? A, no te kitenga o te wahine kihai ia i ngaro, haere wiri ana, takoto ana i tōna aroaro, korerotia ana e ia ki a ia i te aroaro o te iwi katoa te take i pa ai ia ki a ia, me te hohoro o tōna oranga. Nā ka mea ia ki a ia, E kō, na tou whakapono koe i ora ai; haere marie." [Ruka 8:45, 47, 48]
Kua hinga a Kathy Urlich inanahi kei roto i te hohipere o Kaitāia. Te whaiaipo o tā mātou whanaunga Robert Urlich. Ki te taha o tana whaea, he uri ia o Maraea Pororua no Ngāti Hau, Whakapara, me te whānau Berghan no Matarahurahu, Kēnana. He wahine ringatoi. He wahine kokoi. He wahine ataahua.
Kathy Urlich passed away last night in Kaitāia hospital with her devoted husband Robert beside her to the end. An artist who worked mainly in stained glass, many of Kathy's works may be found around the world. May they stand as a lasting legacy to her creativity and love of whānau and most especially her husband.
This evening Robert and his siblings took Kathy back to lie in Haititaimarangai marae, Whatuwhiwhi, where she will stay until the rā whakapungarehu. We will advise funeral details as they come to hand.
Ka nui te aroha ki a koe Robert ara tou whānau hoki. Moe mai e te whaea Kathy. Moe mai ki tou moengaroa kei tou kainga tūturu. Moe mai, moe mai, moe mai.
